6 Month Review

Well there is no way I can possibly catch up for the past 6 months since my last post. I never claimed to be a good blogger...I try not to think of it as another thing on my TO DO list, but rather a place where I can write and share with family and friends. But sometimes it is the last thing I remember to do! SO, I am sorry I have been a slacker...I know I have said it a hundred times before. BUT, I try and I do the best I can....so here we are...a quick recap of the past 6 months.
March- Greyson turned 2!!! Forget about mommy and daddy's birthdays...we kind of stopped counting those a few years ago!
April- Connor turned 4! We threw a strawberry picking party at Patterson Farm for Connor and all his little friends. We went to FL for a wedding and of course that meant a stop at what my father would call, the mouse house. Yes, Disney World. I love it, my boys love it. We could not resist! We stayed at a fun hotel with a Cars themed village and a Nemo pool. Connor has not stopped talking about it and constantly asks when we get to go back.
May- Connor's preschool year came to an end. He completed the 3 day 3's and had a blast. Met a new best friend, a girl named Teagyn.  He had 2 great teachers, Ms. Wendy and Ms. Melissa.  Connor finished up choir for the year. Oh how I enjoyed watching him sing in front of the church. The boys began their ISR swimming lessons again.
June- We welcomed summer with some church vbs, Connor got to go to his first summer camp, and we picnicked at the usual Davidson Concerts on the Green.  Greyson went to his first movie theatre experience to see Monsters University, in which popcorn was consumed in massive quantities.
July- Family trip to FL! We went to South Seas and spent a rainy week at the beach with Mimi and Papa. From there we headed to Venice and spent a week with Oma and Inky before heading back home.  Connor went to a few more fun summer camps and Greyson had his first dentist appointment and allergy testing-both of which were about as fun as you can imagine.
August- We are half way through and we have just been enjoying this last bit of summer...trying to cross off things on our summer bucket list.  It is hard to believe that in just a few short weeks BOTH boys will be in preschool. Connor going to the 4 day 4's and Greyson going to the 2 day 2's.  It's a little bittersweet to think I will have 2 whole mornings to myself!  I am sure I can find something to do ;)
I would, of course, have a million pictures to show for the last 6 months....so I will do my best to show just a few....feel free to follow me on instagram too- I tend to post photos on there almost daily.

SNOW

Finally, after the last few warm winters we got some snow!! It had not snowed in Charlotte since the winter of 2010-2011. Connor was not a fan of it back then, and Greyson had never even seen it. So when we got a good dusting this past weekend, the boys were super excited to get outside and see what snow is all about.  The snowflakes that were falling were huge.  Connor enjoyed throwing "ice balls".  They made a cute little snow man and even went "sledding".  One, or maybe two, snows a year is good enough for this FL girl. Just enough to have some fun!! Here are a few photos of our winter wonderland.

Escape to Florida

To honor my least favorite month of the year, I decided to book a flight and head to Florida with the boys. I was ready for some sunshine and we didn't get to see Oma and Inky at Christmas. So I flew, alone, with my two boys ages 3 and 21 months. It went okay. It wasn't easy breezy, but it wasn't hell. So I'd say that I would do it again, it was certainly worth it. We stayed in Venice, at my mom's house. Inky was still home for winter break so we had some time with her too.  Mimi and Papa came up from Ft. Myers for an afternoon visit.  We leisurely spent time with friends and family that we do not get to see very often.  We were blessed with 70 degree weather-although I packed for a little cooler. We took advantage of the warm sunshine and hit up the beach, twice, and the downtown water fountains. We quickly forgot about winter and embraced our shorts and crocs wearing (flip flops for me) selves. Oma took great care of us...cooked, cleaned, gave us her bedroom. We had it all!  One of the most fun things we did was pick strawberries at Hunsader Farm...bringing home 10 lbs worth. Subsequently, we gave strawberries to everyone we knew, and we ate them at every meal. I have not bought strawberries since :)

After a week in paradise it was time to return to the cold. Thankfully we missed some icky weather while we were gone. I have to say, I love the seasons that NC gives me...and I love it to be cold for Christmas, but by mid January, I don't mind a little warmth!

Here are some pics from our great visit to the Sunshine State:
